Plasma Television 1080p
Will programs broadcast in 1080p look bad on a 780 HD TV?

I’m considering buying a 780P plasma HD television. When HD stations start broadcasting in 1080P, whenever that is, will the picture look as good on a 780P TV as when it was broadcast in 780P?

First, make sure that the 720p TV that you are looking at supports 1080p. Only the latest 720p TVs support 1080p. TVs that came out in previous years only supported up to 1080i.

Second, HD stations will not broadcast in 1080p for awhile. Most stations don’t even broadcast in 1080i.

Third, 1080p will still look good on a 720p TV, but not as good as a 1080p TV. It will still look better than 480p. Downscaling always results in a better image, than an upscaled image because of the way scaling works.
